Ruth Evelyn Scott, 84, of Dallas, formerly of Paris, died Friday, July 22, 2005, at C.C. Young Memorial Home in Dallas.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, July 25, at Calvary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Glynn Vickers, the Rev. Gifford Long, Dr. Burt Palmer, the Rev. Beverly Olsen and the Rev. Jim Semple officiating. Burial follows in Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.

The family receives friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

She was born Aug. 5, 1920, in the Hopewell community to Lloyd Cleveland and Lovie Mae Lavender Wisely. She attended school in Hopewell and Emberson and graduated from Paris High School and Paris Junior College. She married Max Henry Scott on June 4, 1941, in Hugo, Okla. She was the office manager for Green's Electric for 20 years until her retirement in 1983.

She was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church and its Couples Sunday school class for over 60 years. She served on every board and committee of the church. She was the bereavement chairperson for 25 years until her move to Dallas. She was a church greeter and very active on the telephone committee. She was a member of the UMW, the visitation program of the church, and the 39 girls club.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; and a son, James Glenn Scott, in 1946.

She is survived by two daughters, Lacrecia Risinger and her husband, Philip, of Mount Olive community and Deborah Brewington and husband, Max, of Dallas; one granddaughter, Tralisa Sheridan and husband, Bo; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Roger Bryan, Rodney Bryan, Jimmy Fagala, Jeff Fagala, Jimmy Wisely, Larry Olsen, Stephen Towler and Ken Haynes.

Honorary pallbearers are Paul Bryan, Anthony Scott, Marion Burrow, Johnny Exum, Phil Harris, Dr. Bill Surber, Buford Leathers and Mike Secrest.

If desired, memorials may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church.
