Chaplain, DeKalb Memorial Hospital, Auburn. Married Helen E. Vickers on December 16. 1933 in Brookline, Norfolk Co., MA.. Mason: Scottish Rite, York Rite, Mizpah Shrine. Much loved and truly missed.

The Rev. Carl Wirey

The Rev. Carl O. Wirey, 86, died Monday at Wells County Hospital, Bluffton.

Formerly of Auburn, he had lived at the United Methodist Home in Warren four years.

He was born June 15, 1898, in Brown County to L.A. and Sadie (Coy) Wirey.

He graduated from Franklin High School, Franklin College and Boston Seminary.

He retired after working 45 years as a Methodist minister. He had served churches in northern Indiana.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Methodist Church in Auburn, where he had been the pastor before retiring. Friends may call from 9 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at McComb Funeral Home in Auburn and at the church Thursday before the service. Burial will be at Auburn Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Helen (Vickers) Wirey, with whom he celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 16.; a daughter, Sarah Keyes, Auburn; a sister, Sophia Beaman, Franklin; two brothers, Dallas Wirey, Franklin, and Wayne Wirey, New Albany, and three grandchildren.

Rev. Carl O. Wirey, 86, died at 3:35 a.m. Monday, June 18, in the Wells Community Hospital, in Bluffton. He was a resident of the United Methodist Memorial Home, Warren. Prior to entering the home, he was a resident of Auburn.

Rev. Wirey was a retired Methodist minister and a veteran of World War I and World War II. He was a chaplain associated pastor of the Auburn United Methodist Church. He was also a pastor at several churches in Indiana. He was a member of the Auburn Masonic Lodge, Past Worthy Pastor of the Order of Eastern Star, member of the Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine.

Surviving are his wife, Helen E. Warren; Sarah Keyes, Auburn; two brothers, Dallas O. Wirey of Franklin; Wayne A. Wirey, New Albany, a sister, Sophia Beaman of Franklin, and three grandchildren.

The funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Auburn United Methodist Church. The D.O. McComb and Sons Chapel, Auburn, had charge of the funeral arrangements.
