Cora Galey Dies; Services Pending

Mrs. Cora L. Galey, an Edinburg resident, died in the Johnson County Memorial Hospital today (Thursday) at 12:20 p.m. She was admitted to the hospital 17 days ago.

The body was taken to the Mutz Funeral Home in Edinburg where services are pending.

Mrs. Galey was born in Brown County on April 19, 1883, the daughter of Michael and Mary Coy Wirey. She attended Brown County schools.

In 1907 she married James Benjamin Galey and three children were born to them. Mr. Galey died Dec. 7, 1933.

Lived in Edinburg

Mrs. Galey resided at 104 South Pleasant Street in Edinburg and for a number of years prior to moving to Edinburg, lived in Nineveh.

She was a member of the New Bethel Church in Brown County.

Survivors are the children, Mrs. Almeda Watson of R.R. 2, Trafalgar; Hugh Galey of R.R. 5, Franklin; and Walter E. Galey, who is stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Anchorage, Alaska; and four grandchildren, Maurice D. Galey, stationed at Rhein-Main Air Force Base in Germany; Fred D. Galey, stationed at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware; and Linda Joan and Beverly Sue Galey, of R.R. 2, Trafalgar.

Funeral Services For Mrs. Galey Saturday P.M.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at Mutz Funeral Home for Mrs. Cora Galey, 72, who died yesterday at 12:20 P.M. at the Johnson County Memorial Hospital where she had been for 17 days.

The Reverend Ray Bozell assisted by the Reverend William Schuermann will officiate at the services and burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home at anytime.

Born April 19, 1893 (1883), in Brown County Mrs. Galey was the daughter of Michael and Mary Coy Wirey. She was married in 1907 to James Benjamin Galey who preceded her in death on December 7, 1933.

Surviving are the children, Almeda Watson, R.R. 2, Trafalgar, Hugh Galey, R.R. 5, Franklin, and Walter E. Galey, Anchorage, Alaska;

Four grandchildren, Maurice D. Galey, Rhein Main Air Force Base, Germany, Fred D. Galey, Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, Linda Joanne and Beverly Galey, R. R. 2, Franklin; one great grandson, Maurice Dale, Jr., one brother, Prentice Wirey of Clinton, Tennessee; one sister, Mrs. Sula Keaton, Greenwood.

Funeral Services This Afternoon For Mrs. Galey

The Reverend Ray Bozell assisted by the Reverend William Schuermann conducted funeral services this afternoon at the Mutz Funeral Home for Mrs. Cora Galey who died Thursday at the Johnson County Memorial Hospital.

During the services hymns were played by Mrs. Owen Breeding.

Burial was at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburg. Serving as pallbearers were David O'Neal, Byron Lee, Chester Stillabower, William Stillabower, Charles Henderson, and Emerson Coy.
