Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - February 16, 2000. Deceased Name: Obituary: Elaine Winters France. Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Elaine Winters France, 79, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 15, 2000 after a long illness. She was born December 26, 1920 in Devil's Slide, Utah to Byron and Lola Bailey Winters. On November 2, 1940 she married Chancey Leon France in Coalville, Utah.

He preceded her in death on July 5, 1999. Elaine graduated from North Summit High School and worked as a cook at the Spring Chicken Inn in Wanship for many years. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in numerous callings. She loved music and was a member of the Wanship Ward Choir for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, making quilts and chickarees. She had unconditional love for everyone.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Wallace Chancey (LaDonna) France, Salt Lake City; Byron Duaine (Carol) France, Coalville; J'Neil (Ernie) Romero, Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Michelle, Melissa, Matthew, Nicole, Tyler, Susan; great-grandchildren, Ashlee and Natasha. Also surviving are four brothers and one sister, Dean Winters, Don Winters, LaVerle Winters, Jack Winters and Ila Bryson, all of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Lucille Peterson; and grandson, Dion. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 18, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Wanship Ward Chapel in Wanship, Utah. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Coalville, Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Wanship Cemetery.
