Funeral services for John Conway "Connie" Winters, Sr., age 55, of 111 Third Avenue, Bragtown, will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home with Rev. James A. Allmen, pastor of Stem Methodist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. Z. B. Teel, pastor of Holloway Street Baptist Church. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lee Lashley, O. N. Wright, P. E. Beasley, Lester L. Bowling, Henry Umstead, S. Cole, Ed Kearns and V. S. Sparrow.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Davis Winters; one daughter Mrs. A. N. Hutchins of Durham; three sons, Norman M. and J. C. Winters, Jr., both of Durham, and Edward O. Winters of Bessemer City; one sister, Mrs. James Scott of Stem; three brothers, S. R. Winters of Orlando, FL, V. R. Winters of Oxford and C. P. Winters of Wake County, and eight grandchildren.
