Mary Naomi Matheny was born on March 24, 1943 in Lenox, Iowa. She is the daughter of Paul Myron and Darlene Mae (Leedom) Winslow.
She grew up on the family farm near Sharpsburg and graduated from Lenox High School in 1960.
She was married to Gail Dean Matheny on March 14, 1964.
Mary spent most of her life in and around the Lenox area. She worked several different jobs over her career, the White Way Café, Sheridan Egg Company and many others. For the last several years she worked at Cheese's Food Market as a cashier and bookkeeper.
Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed camping around the state, and attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and dance recitals.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 49 years, Gail Matheny, her four children; David (Becky) Snedeker of Bellevue, Nebraska, Terri (Ron) Jennett of Osceola, Iowa, Mike (Terrill) Matheny of Omaha, Nebraska and Tami (Pete) Gray of Tucson, Arizona, a sister, Connie Jensen of Smithville Lake, Missouri and a brother, David (Zelda) Winslow of Davenport, Iowa. And the light of her life, her grandchildren, Shelby and Aubrey Snedeker, Brian (Kate), Heidi, and Kevin Jennett, Ryan, Ashton and Jordan Matheny, Colten and Zaine Gray, Kaleb and Emma Ricke, along with many other family members and friends.
Mary was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
