Venice Leona Winn Babcock
1912 - 2010

Our angel Mom, age 98, passed away peacefully September 24, 2010, surrounded by her family in St. George, Utah.

Venice was born May 16, 1912 to James Albert Winn and Donna Mecham Winn in Vernal, Utah.

Venice loved to be outside working in her garden and flowers her whole life. As a young girl, she loved to chop wood and said she was better than any boy. She loved crocheting, sewing, quilting, singing, reading and was an avid genealogist. She also enjoyed spending time with family at their Delta property. She loved being with her family, they were her most prized possession.

She married Donald Ostler Babcock, October 24, 1932. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. As a couple with their first child, Dorral, they moved from Roosevelt to Salt Lake. They raised their family in Miller Ward, and later moved to Murray, Utah where they attended the South Cottonwood 11th Ward.

Thanks to all those wonderful friends throughout their lives for all their love and kindness. Being a member of the LDS Church she held many positions, including Primary President and Relief Society President. She and her husband, Donald, served in the Salt Lake Temple for 13 years. She also was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Mom's favorite song was "Have I Done Any Good in the World Today," and she always lived her life in such a way to reflect this song.

Survivors include daughter-in-law, Idonna Babcock; son, Calvin (Annette) Babcock, and daughter, Carol (Jed) Harris. Also a sister, Mary Turner and sister-in-law, Marion Winn. Mom has nine grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; sons, Dorral and Larry; parents; four brothers and two sisters.

A special thanks to Kolob Care Center and Suzanne at Rocky Mountain Hospice. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 30, 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Rd. West Jordan. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services.
