Survivors: husband, Bernard; son, Del Carnes of Denver; daughter, Phyllis Holsey of Nevada; sisters, Zella Skinner of South Dakota, Stella Cassell of Mesa; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Lucile Mayo Vest of Denver, a business founder and owner, died Feb. 16 in Mesa, Ariz.,after a short illness. She was 88.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Northglenn United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Highlands Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 27, 1907, in Wessington Springs, S.D. She graduated from Wichita (Kansas) Business School and taught cake decorating to such groups as 4-H and YMCA.

In 1965, she opened a supply shop in Wichita, mainly to supply students, and her business took off. By the mid-1980s her business, Mrs. Mayo's Co., had expanded to eight stores and included the Deco-Press Publishing Co., which distributed "How To" cake decorating books.

She was a past worthy matron of Eastern Star, former president of Wichita Cake Club and a member of Northglenn United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard; a son, Del Carnes, Denver; a daughter, Phyllis Holsey, Nevada; two sisters, Zella Skinner, South Dakota, and Stella Cassell, Arizona; two grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.
