Anne Emogene Winegar

April 14, 1908-May 21, 2002

Anne Emogene Winegar of Lebanon died Tuesday at her home. She was 94.

She was born in New England, N.D., to Oscar and Anna Neeb Strehlow. She lived in North Dakota and worked as a school teacher until 1935, when she moved to Gouverneur, N.Y. In 1939, she moved to Hawthorne, Nev., where she lived until 1946.

She married Leonard G. Winegar in November 1945 in Minden, Nev.

From 1946 until 1966, she was a motel owner/operator in Rangely, Colo. She moved to Sunnyvale, Calif., in 1966 and lived there until 1980, when she moved to Lebanon.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Patrick Burkett of Lebanon; her grandchildren, Carey of Pontococ, Texas, Linda of Seattle, Brenda of Fountain Hills, Ariz., and Rob of Bend; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lebanon.

Arrangements are under the direction of DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home in Corvallis.

Anne Emogene Winegar was born on April 14, 1908 in New England, North Dakota, the daughter of Oscar Stehlow, and his wife Anna nee' Neeb.
Anne was received into the kingdom of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at Moravain Church in New England, confirmation in 1922 at St. John's Lutheran Church (LC-MS) in New England, North Dakota. She has served the Lord Jesus ever since.
Anne lived in North Dakota and worked as a schoolteacher until 1935, when she moved to Gouverneur, New York. In 1939, she moved to Hawthorne, Nevada, where she lived until 1946.
Anne married Leonard G. Winegar in November 1945 in Minden, Nevada.
From 1946 until 1966, Anne was a motel owner/operator in Rangley, Colorado. She moved to Sunnyvale, California in 1966 and lived there until 1980, when she moved to Lebanon.
Monday May 20, 2002, it pleased our Loving Father in Heaven to summon from this vale of tears the soul of Anne Emogene Winegar having attained the age of 94 years, 1 month, and 7 days.
Anne leaves to give praise and glory to God for all the blessings that God has showered upon her.
The survivors include her son, Dr. Patrick Burkett of Lebanon; her grandchildren, Carey of Pontococ, Texas, Linda of Seattle, Washington, Brenda of Fountain Hills, Arizona, and Rob of Bend, Oregon; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her four brothers and one sister.

You would have been 103 this past year and I'm sure you would still have had lots of energy just as you did at 93. Miss you.
