She was born in Morganton, NC on August 19, 1914 to the late James Daniel Windle and Claudia Yount Windle. In 1955 she was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Harvey Roscoe Campbell and in 1999 by her husband of 41 years, Edward Morris Philpott, as well as two sisters, Virginia Dyer and Mildred Davis, and one brother, William R. Windle.
Mrs. Philpott was a sustaining member of the Martinsville Charity League and a member of the First Baptist Church of Martinsville for 70 years. She owned and operated Rives Road Grocery for over 25 years.
