Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elm Street Christian Church in Olney with Minister Larry Weber officiating. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Claremont.
Mr. Wimberly was born on July 25, 1943, in Salem, the son of Charles and Sarah Elizabeth (Herdes) Wimberly. His first marriage ended in divorce. Her name is Carol Edmiston Wimberly O'Dell. She is still living born July 9, 1946. (Contributor: Charissa Burgener (50234425)
He later married Nola Novak on July 14, 2006, in Vincennes, Ind. She survives.
He worked for Verizon for 25 years and was a member of Elm Street Christian Church.
Mr. Wimberly is survived by his wife, Nola Wimberly, of Olney; son, Jeff Wimberly and his wife, Barb, of Olney; daughter, Charissa Burgener and her husband, Mark, of Olney; stepson, Jeff Henry and his wife, Judy, of Grayville; stepson, Scott Henry, of Evansville, Ind.; sister, Barbara Woods, of Olney; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southeastern Illinois or Elm Street Christian Church.
