Ellen Louise Wilson Unruh passed away February 6, 2017 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned. She was born July 11, 1935 in La Crosse, Kansas; the daughter of Everett and Ruth Renner Wilson. She was a lifetime area resident.
Louise graduated from Larned High School and Kansas State University with a BS in Home Economics in 1957. She taught home economics at Rozel High School for several years and substituted at several area schools for a number of years. She was active in 4-H throughout her life both has member in her youth and then sewing leader and clothing judge. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Ash Valley, the United Methodist Church, Rozel, United Methodist Women, FCE Unit, and Red Hats Society.
She married Earl Unruh on May 31, 1957 at the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, Ash Valley, He passed away on December 28, 2011.
Besides her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan; brother, Merle; sister-in-law’s Marjorie Zumalt and JoAnn Halling.
She is survived by a son, Ray (Sally), Hastings – on – Hudson, New York, a daughter, Deanne Unruh, Eugene, Oregon; two sisters, Darlene Smika, Fort Collins, Colorado, and Beth Burke, Fort Collins, Colorado; one brother-in-law, Gordon Rodrock, Mt. Vernon, Missouri; and one grandson, Turner Unruh, Hastings – on – Hudson, New York.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Brad McCoy presiding. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 9:00 a. m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, Kansas.
