Marilyn J. Bewick, age 89, a life long resident of the area passed away December 2, 2009.
She was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School (class of 1939).
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George, who passed away March, 1998, after being married for 57 1/2 years; sisters: Lucille (Frank) Jevicky and Gertrude (Wayne) Corkan.
She is survived by sons: Lonnie (Lynne) Bewick of Toronto, Canada and Dr. Charles (Connie) Bewick of Culver, IN; grandchildren: Craig (Debbie) Bewick of Gurnee, IL, Shelley (Larry) Deem of Loveland, OH, Keith (Jen) Bewick of Palisades, CA, Scott Bewick of San Francisco, CA, Brent Bewick of Denver, CO, Dr. Sharon Bewick of Oak Ridge, TN, and Sean Bewick of Macon, GA; great grandchildren: Amy, Ryan, Jason, Emily, Clayton, Connor, Madeline, and Owen and brother-in-laws: John (Althea) Hormell of PA and Dr. Charles (late Betty) Bewick of IN. She is also survived by her precious dog, Flopsy.
Marilyn worked many years for both Dr. Paul S. Yocum Sr. and Dr. Paul S. Yocum Jr, retiring in 1992, after 29 years of service.
She was a member of Ross Reformed Church, Eastern Star Chapter 58 (recently celebrated 50 years of membership), and Griffith Swinging Seniors.
Visitation will be held at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd., Highland, IN (two blocks from Cline Ave. on Ridge Road) on Sunday, December 6, 2009 from 3:00-7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Ross Reformed Church, Monday December 7 at 1:30 PM with Reverend Shawn Gerbers officiating .
Marilyn is to be buried at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
