Musician. Born in Athens, Georgia, he was best known as the original guitarist and founding member of the New Wave rock band, The B-52's. A self-taught guitarist, he joined The B-52's in 1976 and his first concert with the band was an impromptu music session at a Valentine's Day party for friends in 1977. With the group, he toured and appeared in the film "One Trick Pony" (1980) and recorded four albums: "The B-52's" (1979), "Wild Planet" (1980), "Whammy!" (1983) and "Bouncing Off the Satellites" (1986). He died from AIDS complications at age 32 in New York City.
