Ruth Ann Longerbeam Williams, 88, of Berryville, Virginia, died Friday, April 3, 2009 in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Williams was born December 16, 1920 in Clarke County, Virginia, the daughter of Edward Lacy and Evelyn Page Galloway Longerbeam.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Berryville Baptist Church and John H. Enders Fire & Rescue Ladies Auxiliary. She volunteered with the American Red Cross.

She married John Edward Williams on January 20, 1942 in Winchester, VA. Mr. Williams died January 25, 1999.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy Sue Kempf and her husband, George of Berryville, VA; a granddaughter, Victoria Huyett Lee and her husband, David, of Winchester, VA; and two great-grandchildren, Mason Huyett Lee and Marissa Elizabeth Lee of Winchester, VA.

She was the last survivor of 10 brothers and sisters, Thelma Longerbeam, Nanny Longerbeam Ashby, Madaline Longerbeam McDonald, Mary Longerbeam Gilman, Jeanette Longerbeam Martin, Naomi Longerbeam, Edward Lacy Longerbeam, Milton Edward Longerbeam, and John Longerbeam.

Private services were held at Green Hill Cemetery in Berryville with Rev. Anthony Wadsworth officiating.
