Mrs. Naomi Young Wilkes, age 74, Route 3, Lyons, Ga., died Monday night, February 7, 1994 in Candler Hospital in Savannah following several months illness.
Born in Laurens County, Mrs. Wilkes lived in Toombs County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late George Young and Annie Sterling Young. She was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, and served as secretary of the class. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Wilkes is survived by her husband, Randolph Wilkes, Lyons; one sister, Mrs. Mary Gordy, Reidsville and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for the deceased were held Thursday, February 10, at 2:00 p.m. in the Rocky Creek Baptist Church near Lyons with the Rev. Joe Phillips and the Rev, George Moody officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Albert Pierce, James Johnson, Bill Corley, Max Craft, Darrell Powell and Greg Kirkley.
Jones-Stewart Funeral Home of Lyons was in charge of arrangements.
