Mrs. Mary Myrtle Wilgus Bailey Passes at Home of Daughter

Mrs. Mary Bailey passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ty (Jessie) Meyers, following a short illness, Saturday morning at three-thirty, July 27, 1940.

The deceased was born Feb 14, 1865 in Missouri and spent her childhood in that state and Iowa. She came to Montana in 1910 and established a homestead near Glendive but later moved to town to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Jessie Meyers.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Maybelle) Clark of Shelton, Washington, and Mrs. Jessie Meyers. A third daughter Mrs. Frank (Jenny) Clark died in 1921. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday after at two o'clock at the Methodist church with Rev. Barrying Morrison in charge.

Miss Morrison and Miss Marlaine Kelling sang as a duet "Nearer My God To Thee; and Miss Kelling sang "No Night There".

Pall bearers were George Smith, Ed Lamphier, C. E. Pierce, Harry Thompson Henry Thorsness, and J. A. Specht.

Mary Bailey is buried in Dawson county cemetery, Glendive, Dawson county, Montana. Mary died of coronary occlusion, hypertension arterial, July 27, 1940. Montana death certificate Gld. 1494. The informant on Mary Bailey's death certificate was Ty Myers, son-in-law; Mother and Father were marked unknown; Birth in Missouri; Widowed; Spouse listed as Laurance.

After Mary Bailey's daughter Jenny died, Mary and her brother John Wilgus helped to raised Jenny and Frank Clark's children.
