Edith was born the daughter of Bennet and Inie (Jilson) Wiley. Edith passed on at the Clover Manor.
She attended school in Otisfield and was a graduate of Oxford High School in 1936.
She worked in the local shoe factory in Norway until its closing at which time she went to work in housekeeping for the doctor's residences at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She retired after 10 years at Maine Medical Center.
In her retirement she belonged to DUV, Rebeccahs, and the Pythian Sisters, where she held many offices. She was a bingo player and would be ready to go in a moments notice. She often said she was busier in her retirement than she was working.
She drove friends to doctor's appt., shopping, or anywhere someone needed to go. She will be remembered for her beautiful crocheting and making many afghans, pillows and wall hangings for her organizations and family.
You could almost count on getting something beautiful from "Nana P" on birthdays or for Christmas and everything was unique. Her cream puffs were always requested for any suppers or socials that her organizations were having. She always made extra for the family. Her children and grandchildren were the center of life.
Until her illness, she resided at Hill Street Commons in South Paris. She went to live at Clover Manor in Auburn in the Alzheimer's residential care unit. The family wishes to thank everyone for their love and wonderful care during her long illness with Alzheimer's disease.
She is survived by three children, a son, Paul Carro, and wife, Geraldine, of Norway; two daughters, Mary Woods, and husband, Albert, of Lovell and Noreen Hackala, and husband, Ray, of South Paris; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers; four sisters; two grandchildren; and three infant children.
