She received her early education in Tulsa, attending George Washington Carver, Jr. High and Booker T. Washington high schools. She and her family were members of Morning Star Baptist Church in Tulsa. After graduating high school, Agatha attended and graduated Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma with an education degree.

Sometime n the mid to late 1930's, Agatha moved to Detroit, Michigan where she taught forty years in the Detroit Public School System. She retired in October of 1982. She continued her education receiving her masters degree after attending Michigan State University.

At a very young age, Agatha became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Queen of Sheba Grand Chapter in Detroit and served many years as the Grand Secretary for the State of Michigan. Agatha held all seven degrees of the Eastern Star to the Rose of Seven Seals which is the highest degree in the Order of the Eastern Star. Agatha also held the position of Third Captain of the Guard in the Supreme Ancient Arabian Order of Daughters of Sphinx in the United States of America and Canada. Agatha held many titles and offices in this organization that was so much a part of her spiritual and personal life.

Agatha was visiting her sister and brother in Los Angeles when her sun set on March 18, 1990. Her mother, father and brothers, Allen Drew and William Harding, Jr., preceded her in death.

Agatha Wilburn always emphasized the importance of education, exposure, stimulation, nurturing and challenges to prepare her family for a life of excellence rather than mediocrity.

Agatha died at the age of 71 at Brotman Medical Center in Los Angeles. Her memorial service was held Monday, March 27, 19990 at the Chapel of Blessed Quietness in Los Angeles, California.
