Elvira Augusta Wickman was born in GOTTIBURG, SWEDEN, January 09, 1869 and departed this life June 7, 1938, at the age of 69 years, 4 months, and 28 days.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at the age of 16 years, having lived in that faith until death.
In the year 1888 she came to America arriving in Duluth, Minnesota on May 16.
On June 4, 1890 she married to Erick Wickman and to this union were born nine children, two of whom passed away in infancy.
In May 1898, they moved to Cherry County, Nebraska, where they homesteaded seven miles west of Eli. This is where they loved and raised their family until 1916 when they moved to the present ranch home three miles south of Eli.
Mrs. Wickman went through many hardships during the early days in Cherry County. She was a hard working woman always thoughtful of others. Her thoughts were always wondering if all was well, especially for those dear to her. She never spared herself for others. She was a kind and loving mother a good friend and neighbor.
She leaves to mourn her death four sons and three daughters. Arthur of Johnstown, Gus, Albert, and Emil of Eli, Mrs. Ray Milliken of Martin, S. D., Mrs. Irwin Adamson of Cody, and Mrs. Irvin Jefferis of Valentine.
Funeral services will be held Friday Afternoon June 10th at the ranch home she loved so well, Dean McNeil of Chadron will officiate.
Burial will be in the Conley Flats Cemetery beside her husband who passed away in October 1936.
"Even death has a wonderful mission
Though it robs us of those we love.
It draws us from our surroundings
To long for the meeting above
No matter how heavy our loss is
No matter how great our despair
Doesn't Heaven seem nearer and
brighter.
To know that our loved ones are there.
