Bertie Jeannette Dobson, 92, a resident of the Heritage Harbour Rehabilitation Center in Annapolis since May 2001, died May 21 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Born Jan. 6, 1913, in Deale, Mrs. Dobson attended Deale School and the former Tracey's High School. In 1931 she married Thomas F. Dobson and they lived and raised their family in Tracys Landing.

Primarily a homemaker, she worked part time as a clerk from 1954 to 1978 at the former Nutwell Post Office and later at the post office in Tracys Landing.

She was a member of St. James' Episcopal Church. She enjoyed children and babysitting for family and friends. She was known for her gardening. canning, sewing and crafting braided rugs.

Her husband died May 7, 1984. She was the daughter of the late Perry Ambrose and Elsie Knopp Whittington, the mother of the late T. Everett Dobson and the sister of the late Jessie V. Dorsey, Elsie Mae Wetzel and Alrano A. and Robert E. Whittington.

Surviving are a daughter, Betty A. Aisquith of Riva; three sons, Charles F. Dobson and Gene S. "Sonny" Dobson, both of Tracys Landing, and John A. Dobson of Deale; one brother, Clifford S. Whittington of Deale; one sister, Mary Jane Barnett of Columbia; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Rausch Funeral Home, 8325 Mount Harmony Lane, Owings, where services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. James' Episcopal Church Cemetery in Lothian.
