She was married to Gene L. Atkinson (1924- ) on Sept 16, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Evelyn Clell Whiteley Atkinson was born on Feb. 24, 1928 in Emmett Idaho on Little Rock Road, the 9th of 10 children born to Myron & Kate Warwood Whiteley.

She spent her entire life living in the Emmett Valley serving her family and community. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She returned to her Heavenly Home on Feb. 19, 2006 with her burial held on Feb. 24, 2006, her 78th BIRTHDAY.

She loved to celebrate and decorate cakes for everyone's birthday and she shared her birth date with a daughter (Karla Atkinson Kimball), a granddaughter (Mikaela Atkinson), and a great granddaughter (Katie Youngberg).

She married Gene L Atkinson in the Salt Lake Temple on Sept. 16, 1946 by Joseph Fielding Smith. Seven children were born to this union. Larry (Connie) of Emmett, Janet (Vaughn Youngberg) of Weiser, Dale (Debbi) of Meridian, Karla (Steve Kimball) of Emmett, Neil (preceding her in death), Kristen (Gary Jumper) of Sandy, Utah & Blake (stillborn). She has 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren (with 2 sets of twin boys and 2 others on the way). This September would have been their 60th Anniversary.

She will always be remembered for her cooking, canning, and sewing skills. If you ever left her home hungry it was your own fault. She was always happy, she loved people, and she would do anything for anybody. She served in leadership positions in all the auxiliaries of the church throughout her life, serving 25+ years in Young Women's. She taught early morning seminary for 6 years. She served as a temple worker in the Boise Temple for 10 years. She was a member and president of the Gem County Extension Homemakers Council for over 30 years, and a Master Food Preserver for 22 years and a 4-H Leader for 25 years. She touched many lives and loved every minute of it.

Her family will greet friends and family on Thursday evening, Feb. 23rd from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Potter's Funeral Home in Emmett. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 24, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the Emmett LDS Stake Center, followed by a grave dedication at the Emmett Cemetery.
