Mrs. Conley was born March 27, 1917 in Queen Anne, Maryland to the late Raymond Whitby and Elizabeth McMullen Whitby.
She retired in 1981 from the K-Mart Corporation as a sales clerk in the Dover store. Mrs. Conley volunteered her time in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Modern Maturity Center in Dover, The United Way. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover where she was the Vacation Bible School Director, a Sunday School Teacher and in the Wesley Branches. Mrs. Conley received the first hole in one at Garrison Lake Golf Course.
Mrs. Conley was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton C. Conley in 1979 and her son C. Calvin Conley, Jr. in 2003.
She is survived by her son, C. Curtis Conley and his wife Rebecca of Harrington; her daughter, Caroline Mears and her husband Dwayne of Salisbury, MD; her daughter in law, Mariann Conley of Smyrna; her brother, Edward Whitby of Denton; two sisters, Elma Bennett of St. Michaels, MD and Julia Mason of Salisbury, MD; seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday August 1, 2009 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Green Mount Cemetery, Hillsboro, MD.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Wesley United Methodist Church Branches, 209 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901.
