Whitaker, Chandler Tuttle

Chandler Tuttle Whitaker, son of James A. and Mary Whitaker (nee Tuttle) was born January 12, 1874 at Washington Court House, Ohio and departed this life
in Waynoka, Oklahoma, June 20 1958, at the age of 84 years, 5 month, and
8 days.
At the age of 10, he moved with his parents to Wilson County, Kansas,
where he grew to manhood.
On November 14, 1897, he was united in marriage to Florence Alvira Bradshaw
in Fredonia, Kansas. To this union were born nine children, two sons,
Charles E. and Sherman B. preceded him in death.
In the year of 1902 he and the family moved to Oklahoma settling what
is now Major County, where he was engaged in farming until he retired
in 1945.
His wife, Florence, preceded him in death on March 18, 1927, leaving
him with 5 sons at home which he cared for until they all married.
On March 12, 1940 he was united in marriage to Georgia Baker Maxwell
in Liberal, Kansas,
When he retired from farming they moved to Mooreland, Oklahoma
where they lived until the fall of 1952 when they purchased the store and
Filling station at Bouse Junction which they operated until his ill health
forced them to sell. On November 7, 1957, they moved to Waynoka,
Oklahoma.
In January 1958, he surrendered his will to the Lord. Although he
was never affiliated with any church, he lived true to his convictions.
He was a kind and thoughtful neighbor and loving husband and father.
He is survived by his wife Georgia of the home, 5 sons, Morton Carl of Belva,
Oklahoma, Alva Chandler of Fortuna, California, Roy Ray of Chester, Oklahoma,
Wayne Wynn of Longview, Washington and Gordon Francisof Kelso, Washington.
Two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Lucy Fern) Hannigan, Hoisington, Kansas, and
Mrs. Frank (Mary May) Barnes of Kalama, Washington. One sister, Mrs.
Frank (Mary W) Orr, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Four stepdaughters, Mrs. Margaret
Lantrip, Ardmore, Oklahoma, Mrs. Janice Sproil, Seattle, Washington,
Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Kilde, and Mrs. Peggy McLain, Mountain View,
California. Twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-five great grand-
children and a host of other relatives and friends.
