Mary E. Whetstone
Cumberland - Mary Evelyn Whetstone, 85, of the Cumberland Nursing Home, formerly of Vale Summit Road,
died Sunday Feb. 7, 1993 at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 2, 1907 in Gilmore, she was the daughter of the late Alvie Dayton and Nellie (Harding) Dayton. She was also
preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edward Whetstone, one son and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Whetstone was of the Protestant Faith and was retired from the housekeeping departments of the Braddock Motor
Inn and Slumberland Motel.
Survivors include one sister, Goldie Rought, Millersville, three daughters, Marquerite Evans, Frostburg, Josephine
Wilson and husband Dilbert, Orlando Fla., and Norma Wamsley and husband Charles, Vale Summit, three sons,
Russell Whetstone and wife Marie Whetstone, Columbus, Ga., Gerald Whetstone and wife Cynthia Whetstone, Manasses,
Va., and Willian Whetstone and wife JoAnn Whetstone, Mount Savage, one daughter-in-law, Ellen Whetstone, Vale
Summit, 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, four great - great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg.
Services will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Madeline Cook. Interment will be at
Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be William Whetstone, Douglas Whetstone, William Evans, Delbert Wilson, Charles Wamsley, and Robert
McKillip.
