Pauline Wetmore Arey, 87, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at The Laurels of Salisbury.
Born Nov. 30, 1919, in Rowan County, Mrs. Arey was the daughter of the late Bertha Watson Wetmore and John Wetmore. Educated in Rowan County schools and at Salisbury Business College, she worked in the retail clothing business and was manager of Apple Tree Outlet until her retirement. She was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Herman Arey whom she married Feb. 12, 1939, on Nov. 17, 1997; sons James "Jim" Arey on Sept. 4, 2002; brothers Watson and James Wetmore; and sisters Mary Emma Lyerly and Annie Thomason.
Surviving are daughters Betty Myers (Nelson) and Paula Kluttz (Nathan), both of Salisbury; brothers Paul Wetmore of Raleigh and William Wetmore of Woodleaf; daughter-in-law Susan Wetmore of Rocky Mount; grandchildren Sharon Gibbons, Mike Myers, Alisa Mason, Meg Bell and Jennifer Holloman; and 10 great-grandchiildren.
