Survivors brother J Allen Barney of Grand Rapids, a nephew Stanley Smith of Schoolcraft. Smith Chapel, burial Schoolcraft Cemetery 8-18-1955.

Born Oct 23, 1859 at house of grandparents Mr and Mrs Jonas Allen, grad 1879 from Kalamazoo College, teacher, married May 1874 to Walter F Smith, 1 child Stanley B. Smith. She worked for Census Bureau, Wash. D.C. 1 sister Abby Barney of Washington, 1 brother Allen Barney of Schoolcraft. Funeral at home of brother..interred at Schoolcraft Cemetery.

Jeffrey Allen Barney died Sat Aug 13, 3rd child and only son of S Rolla and Mary Allen Barney born Schoolcraft May 14, 1874. Sisters Agnes Barney Smith and Abby L Barney preceeded him in death. Early life spent in Schoolcraft. Oct 5, 1901 married Anna Freese of LaPorte, IN and located at Schoolcraft. Three children Mary Alixe Barney, where he made his home in Grand Rapids, Marcia and Rolla Barney. 1918 he and family move to Constantine, then lived in Detroit and Schoolcraft and Grand Rapids. Lifetime member of the Lodge No 118 of the F&AM, which group conducted graveside service, Aug 16, 1955. Survived by three children, 10 grand children.
