Joseph B. Welk, 64, passed away surrounded by family, on December 23, 2011 at his home in Fargo, ND.
Joe was born June 15, 1947 to Anton and Frances (Brossart) Welk in Rugby, ND. Joe grew up on farms in the Rugby & McHenry, ND areas.
Joe attended North Dakota State College of Science where he met and married Mary Rose Erickson. After their September 8, 1969 wedding, the couple moved to Fort Collins, CO where Joe attended Colorado State University, graduating in 1971 with a degree in Business Administration. Joe worked for 5 years in the Minneapolis area before accepting a job as a Systems Analyst with Steiger Tractor in 1976. Joe was fortunate to have spent the last 4 years of his career employed by CoreLink.
Joe and Mary were blessed with 3 children; daughter Jodi of Alliance, NE, son Nathan (Kara) of Alexandria, MN, and son Matthew of Fargo, & 2 grandchildren, Matti and Zack.
Joe enjoyed woodworking, playing pinochle on Tuesday evenings and spending vacations in the CO mountains hiking with his family.
Joe is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and 4 brothers; Denis (LaVonne) of Placerville, CA, David (Marilyn) of Granite Falls, WA, Marvin of Minneapolis & Raymond (Elaine) of Arlington, WA, & numerous extended family.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
