Mrs. Augusta W. Conrad, well known resident of Pipestone, passed away at Ashton Memorial Hospital about ten o'clock on Saturday morning, June 11. Mrs. Conrad had been in poor health for some time past and had been taken to the hospital last Wednesday. Her death was caused from cancer and dropsy.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at one-thirty o'clock at the home on South Frances Street and at two o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, being conducted by the Reverend J.G. Steinmeyer. The burial was in Eden Cemetery north of Jasper.
Augusta Weinkauf was born in Germany on June 23, 1864, and was sixty-seven years, eleven months, and eighteen days old at the time of her passing. She came to the United States when a young girl and on July 18, 1885, was married at Jasper, to Fred Conrad, who passed away about eight years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Conrad took a homestead near Jasper, later moving to Holland and about eleven years ago retired and moved to Pipestone to make their home.
She was survived by four daughters: Mrs. Elvina Brinkmeyer, Holland, Mrs. Amelia Cahill, Ruthton, Mrs. Augusta Vockrodt of Pipestone, and Miss Matilda Conrad at home; and three sons: Henry and Albert Conrad of Jasper and Mrs. Mollie Bucholz of Holland; also two brothers: Albert Weinkauf and Gottlob Weinkauf--both of Holland.
