GEORGE W. WEIDER, farmer & Civil War Veteran. A native of Iowa, he was the son of Harrison & Eleanor Weider. George Weider was born in Henry County, January 10, 1836. He was married in 1856 to Miss Nancy McClintock, of Wapello County, Iowa. They had two children - Margaret E. "Maggie" Weider and James "Harrison" Weider. George Weider moved to Nortonville, Jefferson County, Kansas in 1882. He had been a pioneer from Atchinson Co., Walnut Twp. in 1855. In 1862 he enlisted in Company I, Second Kansas Cavalry. He participated in a number of the general engagements in the Southwest, serving from August 17, 1862 until August 17, 1865, when he was honorably discharged as a corporal. He left Kansas and lived in Eugene, Lane County, Oregon for many years. He last lived in Long Beach, California.
