Deceased Name: Kathryn V. (Mirgon) Wehrly
Kathryn V. (Mirgon) Wehrly, 91, died peacefully Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at her residence. She had been a resident of York House Assisted Living facility for three years. She was born Jan. 28, 1915, at Bluff Point in Jay County to Raymond L. and Lenore E. (Black) Mirgon.
She attended Portland High School and later received her diploma from Marion High School. She married Frank E. Wehrly on Dec. 28, 1931 in Coldwater, Mich. They were married for 54 years. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1986.Kathryn was a quality control inspector at RCA (Thompson Consumer Electronics) for 18 years retiring in 1971. She worked in the kitchen at McCulloch School making pies during the 1940's and 1950's. She was a former past president of the McCulloch PTA and Mothers Study Group. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church for 40 years and a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church since 1976. She was Volunteer at Marion General Hospital in the Chaplaincy Dept. 22 years served on the Election Board for many years. She was a former member of American Business Women and Republican Women. She never missed watching the Indiana Pacers, Colts, Chicago Cubs, or golf. She loved God, her family, poetry, her country, reading her Bible and sharing her faith. She loved life and lived it to its fullest but could not wait to enter her heavenly home. In her earlier years she loved to garden, crochet, and travel. She played a mean game of Euchre and was a blessing to all who new her.
She will be missed by her two daughters, Judy (Wehrly) Solms, Fairmount, and Janice (Wehrly) Jeffries, Corpus Christie, Texas; sons, Richard (Joanne) Wehrly, Calabash, N.C., and Frank (Arelly) Wehrly, Homestead, Fla.; 17 grandchildren. Grandchildren that live in the area are Joe (Bobbie) Solms, Kathi (Tony) Haisley, Michael (Cherie) Solms, Stefanie Ratliff and Daniel (Layla) Solms all of Fairmount; 40 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; her York House Family and many faithful friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister Fredetta Money, a granddaughter Vickey Wehrly, grandson Paul Kevin Mc Mullen and great-granddaughter, Taylor Wehrly.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, Ind.
Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, Ind., with Bill Sparks, and Pastor Steve Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at Salamonia Cemetery, Salamonia, Ind.
