|Death: ||Apr., 1688|
William was the third of nine children of Gov. John Webster and his wife, Agnes Smith Webster. He was baptized on Sep. 26, 1614 in Cossington.
The family first settled in Watertown, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts. John then moved his family to Hartford, Connecticut in 1636, as one of the original landowners in Hartford.
William's father became Governor of the Colony of Connecticut in 1656.
The family attended the First Congregational Church of Hartford. After a religious dispute, in 1659 John took a group of dissenters to Northampton, Hampshire Co., Massachusetts. The family finally settled in Hadley. This is where William lived out his life.
William married Mary Reeve on Feb. 17, 1669/70 in Hadley. The couple had no children.
His wife was tried as a witch in 1683, acquitted, hung anyway, but survived the attack.
It is assumed, but not confirmed, that he is buried in the same cemetery as his father and wife.
