Jolene Ann Daiss died Dec. 24, 2005 in Rapid City.
At Jolene's request no services will be held. A celebration of life will take place on April 9, 2006.
She was born April 10, 1948 in Deadwood to Joseph and Frances (Perry) Watt. Jolene grew up in Lead and graduated in 1966 from Lead High School. She then attended St. John McNamara School of Nursing, but quit before earning her degree due to an accident that resulted in a badly broken leg. In 1969 she married Terrence "Yogi" Dunn at Bethlehem, S.D. where they lived and worked. Yogi died in 1970. Jolene moved to Montana for a short time, but soon returned to South Dakota. In the next years she married Terrence Daiss, resumed and completed nurse's training, and had a daughter Bethany. In 1982 another daughter Teresa was born and the family moved to Merrillville, Ind. where she worked in geriatric care. In 1984 a son Nicholas was born. The family returned to Rapid City in 1992 and Jolene began nursing at Rapid City Regional Hospital in pediatrics. Jolene retired from her position as a registered nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit earlier this month.
Jolene is survived by daughter Bethany and Rory Sumners and granddaughter Lily of Pine Ridge; daughter Teresa (Niklaus Towne) Daiss, and son Nicholas Daiss, mother Frances Watt and father Joseph Watt, sister Connie and Vince Braun, and ex-husband Terry Daiss, all of Rapid City. Memorial contributions will be made in her name to Working Against Violence Inc. (WAVI). Friends may sign the online guestbook at www.kirkfuneralhome.com.
