Donna Jane (Brigham) Watt, 77, of Lockwood Boulevard, passed away at Hospice House at 1:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28.
Mrs. Watt was born Nov. 6, 1934, in Youngstown, to William and Isabelle (Patterson) Brigham.
A 1952 graduate of South High School, she married her high-school sweetheart, Marvin Watt. Having just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary, they lived 40 of those years in Canfield before settling in New Springfield and more recently moved to Boardman.
Mrs. Watt was passionate about her family and her faith. She devoted most of her life to raising her children and helping to grow churches. First attending the Hillman Street Christian Church, Donna and Marvin later became Charter Members of the Lynkirk Church of Christ, followed by the First Christian Church of Columbiana and lastly the Greenford Christian Church.
She belonged to the Mother-of-Twins Club and sat on the Class of '52 Reunion Committee. As well as being a realtor with Century 21, she devoted 20 years helping to build an insurance business with her husband. She was also an avid reader, gardener, seamstress and quilter.
She was a loving and devoted mother of nine kids, grandmother of 20, and great-grandmother of one. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Watt; her children, Lynn Corriveau of Chicago, Cindy (Randy) Weaver of Wellsburg, W.Va., Karen (Steven) Hill of Greenwell Springs, La., Gary (Susie) Watt of Rayland, Kathy (Andrew) Smith of Gibsonville, N.C., David Watt of Salem, Va., Sharon (Kendall) Freeman and Julie (Seidu) Flemister, both of Columbus, and Judy (Christopher) Van Curen of Cuyahoga Falls. She leaves a rich legacy of faith through her grandchildren, Erin (Weaver) Sovic, Courtney (Weaver) Mason, Ryan Hill, Carissa (Hill) DeWitt, Rebecca Hill, Stephanie Hill, Luke Watt, Eliana Watt, Paula Smith, Joseph Smith, Summer Smith, Connor Watt, Nathan Watt, Carlie Freeman, Justus Freeman, Reagan Freeman, Michael Van Curen, Madison Van Curen, Mattea Van Curen, and Genesis Flemister; and great-granddaughter, Lola Hill.
Besides her parents, Donna was preceded in death by one brother, William Brigham; and one sister, Jeanie Brigham Day.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in North Lima with Minister Gary Watt officiating.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made in Donna's name to the Missions Committee at the Greenford Christian Church.
The Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in North Lima has been entrusted with the arrangements.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and nurses of Masternick Memorial Nursing Home, as well as Hospice of the Valley for their excellent care and compassion for Donna.
