Kathy Sue Watson
October 25, 1958 – March 9, 2011

Kathy Sue Watson was born in Clinton, Michigan on October 25, 1958. She was one of three daughters born from the union of the late Colston and the late Mary (McCarty) Watson. She attended Tecumseh High School and graduated with the class of 1976.

Kathy married David Woods and from this union came a daughter: Mary Elizabeth

She worked in the automotive industry for more than twenty-five years. Kathy began as a test driver at the Michigan International Speedway. She later took employment as an engineer with Federal Mogul in Ann Arbor and then finally with Ford Motor Company working for their subsidiaries Visteon and ACH, Automotive Component Holdings.

Kathy was a giving individual with a memorable personality. Her personality matched her fiery red hair. She was extremely goal oriented and a hard worker that earned the respect of her fellow employees, and allowed her to maintain friendships from places she had worked twenty years prior.

She loved to travel and her constant companion was her dog Marco as they visited all of the Great Lakes together. She loved her family but lived for "tea parties" with her two granddaughters. She was a member of Trout Unlimited, Society of Automotive Engineers, and a Yellow Mustang Registry..

The last few years, Kathy went back to school attending Monroe County Community College and receiving her Associate Degree in Automotive Technology. She was looking forward to completing just a few classes to obtain her bachelors from Lawrence Tech.

Kathy Sue Watson age 52 of Monroe passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at her home. Her passing was preceded by her parents.

She leaves to cherish her memory a beloved daughter: Mary Ferguson and her significant other: Justin Lynch of Ann Arbor; two sisters: Debbie Kapnick of Atlanta, GA and Kandi Watson of Morristown, TN; two very special granddaughters: Moira Ferguson and Clara Ferguson; and one grandchild on the way.

Friends may gather from 2:00-6:00pm on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. Friends may also gather Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Coffey Funeral Home, 937 Broad Street, Tazewell, Tennessee (423) 626-4274. Her final rest will take place at Myers Cemetery in Tazewell.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to women's education at Monroe County Community College.
