Pocahantas, referred to as "Pokie" in the census, was born in VA. It is not yet known who her parents are. By 1880 she was living with her uncle and aunt, Green Berry and Caroline Matilda Watkins. Given this - her father would be John Wesley Watkins, Winston Watkins or George Washington Watkins - all three of them having died in the civil war.

She was admitted to the asylum in 1892 from Stokes county, NC at the age of 30 and unmarried. She remained there for the next 30 years and died of chronic interstitial nephritis with uremia (kidney failure).
