George Washington was born on July 4 about 1894 in Robertson County, Tennessee, the son of Wright Washington (1848–1926) and Luvenia "Lue" (Ayers) Washington (ca 1850– ). {It is noted that, although his Death Certificate has his year of birth as 1889, the 1900 census has him as 6 years old and the youngest of the 4 children in the household.}

He was married to Katie -- .

A laborer at the Federal Chemical Company and living at 17th & Railroad, Nashville, George was about 44 years old and married when he was fatally injured at work on July 2, 1938: An elevator he was on fell 100 feet, severing his spinal cord. He died at Nashville General Hospital on August 13th and was buried two days later in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashville.
