WATERVILLE, ME -- Tammy Jean Saul, 47, of Fairfield passed away on July 17, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer with her loving family by her side.
She was born on Aug. 21, 1960 in Skowhegan, a daughter of Philip W. Sr. and Beverly A. (Bouchard) Washburn.
She was educated in Skowhegan and Waterville schools. Tammy worked for 17 years at C.F. Hathaway, was a former manager at the Pancake House and worked for five years at Scottie's Pizza.
Tammy loved to cook, especially liked to bake, and was known for her delicious apple pies. She greatly enjoyed collecting Indian apparel, lawn sales, music and outdoor activities such as camping and fishing. Tammy was a very hard worker, a classy lady and a very generous woman; she was always there to lend a helping hand or to just simply be there for you.
Above all Tammy's greatest enjoyment was her time spent with Sage; he was her life; she never missed one of his activities. She was an extremely loving and devoted foster mother.
Tammy is survived by her fiancÚ, David Steeves, her guardian child, Sage Michael Thomas, her father, Philip W. Washburn Sr., her brothers and sisters; Phil Washburn Jr. and companion, Bobbi Jo Aguilar, Brenda Lee Greene, Mary A. Gagne and companion Keith Roderigue, Earl Washburn and wife Dorothy, Becky Washburn and companion Richard Duffy, Kelly Spaulding, Scott Washburn and companion Melanie McDougal, she is also survived by her loving fiancÚ's family; Charles and Lorette Steeves, Gary Steeves and companion Sue Nickerson, Tammy Fortier and husband Timmy, Lisa Fitzgerald and companion Johnny Fortier, Ernest Steeves and wife Tammye, her best friend Barbara Bernard; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
She was predeceased by her mother Beverly A. Washburn, and Jeff Fitzgerald.
Tammy's family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to all of the staff at the Harold Alfond Cancer Center, Thayer Oncology and hospital staff, and the HealthReach & Hospice, and all others who helped care for Tammy for all of the love, support, and compassion shown to Tammy through out her illness and to her family and friends. We Thank You!
A memorial visitation will be held at Veilleux Funeral Home on Thursday, July 24, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., funeral service to begin at 1 p.m., committal to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery on Grove Street in Waterville.
