Joan Elizabeth Johnson, age 60 of Stronghurst, Illinois, died at 2:47 p.m. Saturday December 12, 2009 in the Cottage Hospital in Galesburg. She was born May 27, 1949 in Pekin, Illinois, the daughter of Lyle and Kathleen Faren Wardell. She married Russell Johnson in Smithfield, Illinois.

Mrs Johnson was a homemaker and attended the Stronghurst Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, one son- Christopher (and Maegan Gold) Johnson of Stronghurst, three grandchildren- Jay and Sabrina Johnson and Rhenna Todd, and three brothers- John Wardell of Bloomington, IL., Jeff Wardell of Knoxville, IL., and Jim Wardell of Gerlaw, IL. She was preceded in death by one step son and her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday December 22, 2009 in the Stronghurst Christian Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until time of services at the church. A memorial fund has been established for her grandchildren
