HELM, MARJORY (WARD), 96, previously of Slatersville, passed away at the Friendly Nursing Home, Woonsocket, on January 29, 2007.

Marjory was born on June 5, 1910, a daughter of the late Dr. John E. and Hazel (Elliot) Ward. She was educated at Classical High School and the Edgewood Secretarial School. She was a charter member of the Providence Assembly for Rainbow Girls.

Upon graduation she went to work for the R.I. Hospital Trust Co., Providence. On September 19, 1936, she married George T. Helm of Slatersville, and the couple was married for sixty-six years.

Mrs. Helm was a member of the Slatersville Congregational Church where she was a member of the Ladies Parish Guild, a member of the Sewing Group, and a former Sunday School teacher. She served on the Slatersville Girl Scout Troop Committee and also delivered Meals on Wheels for eight years. She was a former member of the Woonsocket Hospital Aid Association, and she was on the board of the Ballou Home for the Aged for several years.

Mrs. Helm is survived by her four children; George T. (Ted) Helm, Jr. of North Eastham, MA.; Jeffrey W. Helm of Macon, GA; Patricia H. Lyford of Waterville, ME; and Jennifer H. Geurtsen of Holliston, MA. She had twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces. She was predeceased by her husband George and two sisters; Eleanor Gardiner and Dorothy Justin.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 11AM in Slatersville Congregational Church, On the Common, Slatersville, under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket. Calling hours are omitted and burial will be private.
