Mildred Ward, 83, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016, in Fairfield, Texas, after a long illness. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Capps Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Capps Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Lake Chapel Cemetery.

Mildred was born in Bedias, Texas, to the late Pierce O. and Mildred Bradbury Williamson. She attended Carl Wunsche High School in Spring, Texas. On August 5, 1950, she married Fairfield native, Billy Jack "Bill" Ward. They lived in Houston where they raised two sons, John F. Ward of Houston and Jesse Alan Ward.

In 1981, she and Bill retired and returned home to Fairfield. Mildred was an avid gardener, enjoyed singing in the choir and loved the Lord. She was a member of the World Wide Church of God for 40 years and First United Methodist of Fairfield for nine years.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Alan Ward; and a sister.

Survivors include her husband, Bill, of Fairfield; nieces: Rebecca Blundell and husband, Jimmy, of Douglass, TX, Denise Allemang and Susan Doylene Brady, both of Etoile, TX. E22
