|Birth: ||Apr. 5, 1880|
|Death: ||Dec. 6, 1972|
Helen's middle name was most likely in honor of the physician that attended her birth, Dr. E. E. Montgomery.
Helen attended the Hebron Church at 25th & Thompson Sts.
She worked as a milliner out of a front room of her house at 1941 Ridge Ave.
In 1919, she married William Walton, a City fireman.
By the 1930s, she was living at 288 Highland Ave. in Lansdowne, Pa. with her brother William.
Her mother died in 1927. Her brother died in 1935 and her husband died in 1937. She lived alone in her house in Lansdowne, Pa. until 1966 when Delaware County Family Service stepped in.
In 1966, Helen was adjudged incompetent and her estate was placed in the guardianship of Fidelity Bank. In 1971, the home at 1941 Ridge Ave. that had been the homestead of the family for many years, was sold as a vandalized and run-down property for a paltry $100. She died the following year at the Manchester House nursing home, 411 Montrose Ave., Media, Pa. She joined her husband in an unmarked plot at Montrose Cemetery.
Today, the site of 1941 W. Ridge Avenue is a vacant lot. A 1971 picture of the property was found in her estate file at the Delaware County courthouse.
