G. B. Walsh Dies In Washington

HUMBOLDT, Tenn.
George Bailey Walsh, 58, former Hum-boldtan. died at a Washington. D. S. hospital, Sunday at 5:30 a.m. following a brief illness. Mr. Walsh was a prominent attorney in Republican politics in Washington. He was born in Trenton, son fo the late Thomas J. and Susan Robertson Walsh. They moved to Humobldt when he was young and he spent most of his youth here. He was a graduate of Humboldt High School and attended Notre Dame and later graduated from Georgetown University ia Washington. Later he moved to Memphis where he was Assistant District Attorney from 1929 till 1932. Mr, Walsh was a partner in the law firm of Mathews, Thompson and Walsh in Mem phis until he joined the Navy in 1942. During World War II he was attached to Air Group 9 aboard the Aircraft Carrier "Eseex" in both the Atlantic and Pacific areas. He left the Navy with the rank of lieutenant Commander and became an attorney with the Alien Property Section of the Department of Justice. He assisted in the Nuremburg trials, serving with the Justice Department. In 1948 he was named National Republican campaign director and was Reading Clerk of many Na tional Republican conventions. Recently he represented the State of Louisiana in the Tide- lands Oil case. His wife, the former Miss Dorothy McDaniel of Memphis, who for many years was secretary to the late Senator K. D McKellar, survives. Other survivors are: two brothers, Dr. Robert Walsh of Jackson, Miss, and Thomas J. Walsh Jr. of Memphis: and his aunt, Mrs. Pink Robertson of Humboldt. The body will arrive In Humboldt, Wednesday evening. Rosary will be said at Hunt Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday evening, Maes will be said at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Thursday at 10:30 a.m with The Rev. Father W. A Wallinger officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
