Aileen (Johnson) Waller Aileen L. (Johnson) Waller, 82, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family and friends. She was born June 21, 1928 in Waterloo, Alabama the daughter of the late Hubert L. and Callie L. (Austin) Johnson. She was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School in Evansville and attended Madame C. J. Walker Beauty College in Indianapolis. She had worked at Helfrich Vending Company, servicing Babcock and Wilcox and GE Plastics, retiring in 1989 after 15 years of service. An active member of her local community, she was a member of the Optimist Club, United Way, and the Red Hat Society; served as an American Red Cross and Deaconess Hospital Gray Ladies volunteer. She was on the organizational committee for the new Mt. Vernon Junior High School in the early 1990s. She was a charter member for over 60 years of the Bethel AME Church where she served as the church secretary, missionary society, and stewardess board member. She had a passion for her family and especially her two grandsons who she cherished the time spent with them. Aileen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 39 years, Alois R. Waller in 1989, her only sister Willie Mae Williams, her two brothers; Hubert Johnson and John Johnson. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter and son in law; Regina and Robert Flowers of Mt. Vernon, IN; her two grandsons; Jared Wilson and Joshua Mobley, both of Louisville, KY; her brother and sister in law; Sammie Davis Slick and Phyllis Johnson of Mt. Vernon, IN; her sisters in law; Yvonne Johnson of Evansville, IN and Rose Johnson of Mt. Vernon, IN; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and host of loving friends, especially Nonnie Robison for over 50 years. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Friday, August 27, 2010 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St. in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Saint Samuel Johnson officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm service time on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made Bethel AME Church and Alzheimers Association.
