Mrs. Dorothy Alice Walker Hiers Blalock, 85, died Saturday evening (March 1, 2008) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church, The Junior Woman's Club, The Woman's Club, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is the daughter of the late Aubrey Vernon Walker and Alma Aline Taylor Walker. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Woodrow Hiers; her second husband, Tom C. Blalock; and three children, Harry Hiers Blalock, Cheryl Hiers and Jimmy Blalock.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Christian Blalock Mills (husband Trey) of Jacksonville, FL, and Adam F. Blalock (wife Jennifer) of Tallahassee, FL; one daughter-in-law, Joanne Blalock of Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Aubrey Lee Woods of Oviedo, FL; one brother, Jack P. Taylor of Villa Rica; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday (March 7, 2008) at Oakland Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will begin 10 a.m. Friday at Music Funeral Home.
