Services for Wanda Faye Walker Thomson, 63, of Rockdale will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in Friendship United Methodist Church in the Friendship community with Kay Cook officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home.
Ms. Thomson died Monday morning, Jan. 17, at her daughter's home near Rockdale.
A resident of Rockdale since 1984 and formerly of San Antonio, she was born Aug. 8, 1941, in the Friendship community to Edward and Jessie Walker. She was raised in Davilla.
Ms. Thomson worked as a waitress in many Rockdale restaurants.
She attended nursing school at Temple Junior College and received her LVN in 1992. She worked at Renaissance Villa for 12 years.
Ms. Thomson enjoyed gardening and being home, and she loved her dogs, Buttercup and Precious.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Doris Rhodes.
Survivors are a daughter, Donna Lawrence Turpen and husband Ricky of Rockdale; grandchildren Matt Farley and Tiffany Turpen; and three sisters, Nita Cooper of Rockdale, Joyce Cryer and husband Wayne of Rockdale, and Stella Moore and husband Art of Houston; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were David Hodgkiss, Doyle Wayne Cryer Jr., Gerald Westbrook, Sam Farley, Floyd Rhodes, John Fischer, Tim Gray and Robbie Huff.
Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Cryer Sr., Eddie Freeman, Kenneth Freeman and Gene Elderige.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VistaCare Hospice, 2626B S. 37th St., Temple, TX 76504; or to Fulmer Fund, 901 W. 38th, Second Floor, Austin, TX 78705.
