Mrs. Thos. Morefield, 88, Dies Tuesday
Services Held From Home This Morning-- Interment at Hazel Ridge
Mrs. Thomas W. Morefield, 88, died at her home here Tuesday morning after an illness fo three years.
Genora Wales Morefield was born in Plymouth, N. Y. on Dec. 7, 1844. She came to Walworth county with her parents, Frederic and Laura Wales, when she was 10 years old. Her parents purchased the farm in North Geneva now owned by Clarence Norton.
She was married to Thomas Morefield at the parsonage of the Elkhorn Congregational church on Mar. 18, 1871. Mr. Morefield, who was a Civil war veteran, died on Dec 19, 1911.
Mrs. Morefield is survived by three daughters, Miss Alice Morefield, assistant postmaster; Miss Rose Morefield, who is ill at the Methodist hospital, Madison, and Mrs. Carl P. McAssey, Chicago; one granddaughter, Bernice Barnes, Delafield, and one brother, Walter Wales, Elkhorn.
The funeral was held this (Thursday) morning from the home, Rev. Leslie J. Tuck of the Congregational church, of which Mrs. Morefield was a member, conducting the services.
Burial was in Hazel Ridge, with her nephews, Herbert, Burton and Henry Wales, George Morris, Lee Welkos and Arthur Ferge, acting as pallbearers.
