Death: Mar. 29, 1915
Owen County

From the Owen county Democrat, April 1, 1915:
Emery Waggoner, 50 years old, a well known farmer of Lafayette township, died at his home last Monday of pneumonia. He had been ill only a few days. When he was in Spencer a week ago, he told his friends he was feeling fine. He leaves a widow and also two sons by a former marriage, his first wife being a sister of Owen County Auditor George W. Stwalley. One son lives in Montana and the other in Illinois.

From the Owen County Democrat, April 8, 1915: Emery Waggoner, son of Alfred and Tillie Ann Waggoner was born near Patricksburg, Owen county, Indiana on Sept. 16, 1865. Died on his farm one mile east of Vandalia, Owen county, Indiana, March 29, 1915, aged 49 years, 6 months, 13 days. He was the third child of a family of five children. of these, two brothers, William and Charles are living. He was united in marriage with Susannah Stwalley on January 12, 1887. To this union two children were born, Roy E. of Montana and W. Earl of Illinois. After a short but very happy married life, his wive died Sept. 25, 1891. Brother Waggoner was again united in marriage on November 28, 1895. This marriage reunited the family, the two small boys who had been mothered by relatives and friends, were taken back to the old home. Here they found a warm friend in the new wife. She accepted her charges joyfully and up until young manhood, when they left home to start life for themselves, they were as her children. this was so much so that her neighbors thought for a long time they were her own. The boys always responded to this love and become greatly attached to the new companion.
