Marguerite was the daughter of Charles A. Ruebel and Elda Todd. Her father was the proprietor of the Ruebel Hotel in Grafton, Jersey County, Illinois for many years. The hotel was established by her paternal grandfather, Michael Louis Ruebel, in 1879.
Marguerite married Cecil Earl Wadlow in 1918. They were the parents of 3 children.
Marguerite and Cecil were the owners and operators of Wadlow Funeral Home in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The Wadlows' nephew was Robert Wadlow. He was the young man who appeared in the Guinness Book of World Records and gained fame as The Alton Giant.
Marguerite's parents moved to Nebraska to make their home with her in the fall of 1947. Her father died not long after their arrival.
Marguerite and Cecil eventually divorced.
Marguerite died in Daniels County, Montana at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 28 days.
She was survived by 2 daughters, Lois Simon of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and Juanita Lapke of Scobey, Montana; 1 son, Richard Wadlow of Laramie, Wyoming; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Maurine Marshall of Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Marguerite was preceded in death by her former husband, Cecil, who passed away in 1967.
Visitation was held on 05 Sep 1984 at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Grafton. Graveside services were conducted that afternoon at 2 p.m.
