Alice Barrett, age 78 of Manistee, Michigan passed away Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Benzie County Medical Care Facility, Frankfort, Michigan.
Alice was born June 9, 1929 in Sterling Twp., Michigan, the daughter of James and Emily K. (Velzy) Wade. Alice was united in marriage to Vernon Parsons. Mr. Parsons preceded Alice in death in 1952. Alice was then united in marriage to Herbert Barrett on September 20, 1954 in Birmingham, Michigan. Mr. Barrett also preceded Alice in death on April 25, 1985.
Mrs. Barrett had resided in Manistee for several months, coming from Clare, Michigan and previously from Harrison. Alice was a member of the Harrison V.F.W. Post 1075 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post 404 Ladies Auxiliary also of Harrison.
Surviving is one son, Dale Barrett and wife Ruth of Maniste; one daughter, Nancy Close and husband Dale of Iron Mountain, Michigan; one sister, Doris Wiltfang of Grand Blanc, Michigan; two grandchildren Corie and Kurtis Barrett both of Manistee; a very special sister in law, Carol Wade of Waterford, Michigan. Alice also was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: James and Robert Wade and two sisters: Kathleen Barg and Minnie Lendzian.
Funeral services for Mrs. Barrett will be held Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Rev. Gerald Baxter officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 22, 2007 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Harrison. Memorial contributions may be considered to: American Diabetes Association.
